So stoked to bring you what may very well be the sweetest bicycle ever featured on this here little blog, or at least the most beautiful in recent memory. It is elegance personified and while purists may cry little purist tears all over their backlit Apple keyboards at the fact that it’s a 1970’s frameset with a mostly 90’s parts kit, I fucking love it. (And so should you)
Who gives a rats ass about “correctness?” While I understand allegiance to matching vintages on a build, the only thing worth two poops in the world of building bikes is: A. does it look awesome? B. Does it ride the way you want it to?
On both of those highly subjective factors, I’d rate this amazing DeRosa as “holy crap yes” on the first, and
“beats me, you think this dude is dumb enough to let me ride it?” on the second.
My buddy Mike, also the owner of the Gator Skateboard, purchased this beauty with what has to be the most minty original 1970’s paint job I have ever seen from a local collector with the build kit you see. He then replaced the cables and the saddle, polished it up a bit and it is now as you see it.
It is an extremely rare 1978 DeRosa Professional Special Edition with a 1993 Campganolo Chorus 8 Speed kit.
I’ll point out a few things that really stir my soul as we go through the photos.
Walk with me…But scroll slowly, let it all sink in.
And I’m just going to shut up now and let you look.
