Introducing the Rough Stuff Rally - Copper Harbor, Michigan

Here it is folks, a chance to gather the community together to rip some of the best trails in the world in one of the most special and beautiful places I've ever been. I invite y'all to come join us in Copper Harbor, Michigan for an old school mountain bike experience, a 43 or 22 mile big loop of singletrack at the edge of the world.
I've been missing the adventure style mountain bike events that I grew up with, a feeling of being way out there in the woods. While I race modern cross country, the multi lap short course format just doesn't quite hit the same way. So we're bringing back the big day, big loop style. And we're doing it in one of the most unique places. If you've never been to Copper, it's time to fix that.

July 14-15th
The 1st Annual Rough Stuff Rally
- Presented by Wilde Bicycle Co. and Rock Solid Trail Contracting -

Two nights of camping, community, world class mountain bike riding and revelry at Trail's End Campground in Copper Harbor, Michigan.

About Copper Harbor - One of my favorite places to visit in the world, and I can't wait to share it with you. It contains some of my favorite trails, favorite lake to swim in (Fanny Hooe), and of course some of my favorite people. Perched on the edge of the Keeweenaw Peninsula on Lake Superior, Copper Harbor has developed an international reputation for hosting some of the best mountain biking in the world. A good day riding here is as good as any place I've been. The town has under a hundred year round residents and no cell service. It feels remote and end of the road, it's like being on an island. There is exceptional sight seeing, rock hounding, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking and fishing. Great times for everyone no matter what you're into.

Registrants will receive: t-shirt, patch, sticker, gourmet food at the aid stations, and free beverages on Saturday night.

Route: 43 mile or 22 mile loop on some of the best single track on Earth. A mix of machine built flow trails, rocky old school tight single track, double track and gravel roads. Ride fast or take it slow, all options are valid. Route has three aid stations featuring hot food and cold beverages. We're bringing in Chef Adam Blake to cook the best food you've ever had on course at the East Bluff aid station. This is an event for experienced mountain bikers. It's not overly technically hard, but there are some challenging sections and it's a real big day on the bike. Registration can be used for either distance, feel free to make the call day of.

Gear: If I was doing this event I'd reach for my 120mm hardtail as the fast and most efficient option. You'll have a great time on just about any bike but I'd recommend staying under 160mm of travel. A short travel dual suspension bike is probably going to be the most fun.
